Today was the first day we had the opportunity to go off on our own to take any dance class we liked! A few of us decided to go to DanceWorks by Oxford Street and took two classes. First, we took floor bare, which is like doing ballet bare but lying on the floor. Sounds easy, but was a super intense ab and leg workout! Afterwards we took a Limon contemporary class with an awesome American guy! This class was by far my favorite class I have taken since being in London and most of us plan on taking him again ASAP!
After class we graced Oxford street with our sweaty selves to shop (Oxford street has all the major UK stores...aka it was very dangerous). I got my first sandwich at Pret A Manger, which is like the British form of Panera but cheaper and yummier! I got a chicken salad, avocado, and lettuce sandwhich...can you say NOM. Also went into Primark, London's form of Forever 21 but cheaper and awesomer. Surprisingly I held back and only made two purchases. Until next time, Primark.
Tuesday night we made another trip to the Young Vic Theatre and hung out on their second story patio before the show. We saw the show Minsk, it was super intense and in your face. It dealt with the happenings in Belarus and how it has affected the culture there. Afterwards each cast member spoke about their current situation in Belarus making the show have an even bigger impact knowing that the cast were all directly affected by the happenings in the play. After the show we went down to the CH basement our fav late night hang spot and met kids from Yale (yeah woah) staying in our dorm. WOOP WOOP!
Hangin outside the Young Vic!
Wednesday June 20:
Had four hours of fabulous dancing, blah blah blah onto the important stuff! We had previously made a booking to go to the Harry Potter Studio at 4 not knowing how long of a process it would be to get there and considering our class got out at 2 it gave us two hours of frantic sprinting through london, the underground, lots of yelling and losing people. BUT we made it and it was SOOOO WORTH IT!
I freaked out pretty much the whole time, even cried once. I took somewhere close to 150 pictures....that about sums up how amazingly awesome it was. We saw the Great Hall, the Griffindor Common Room, Boys Dormitory, Dumbledores office (unreal), Hagrids hut, all the wands each character uses, the horcruxes, Knight bus, Privet Drive, the Burrow, the Ministry of Magic, DIAGON ALLEY....I could go on for days. Basically every little detail and set! It was really cool to see all of the behind the scene work of the architects and set designers and the processes they take to make the smallest thing! BUT the best part was at the very end they had a HUGE HUGE HUGE model of Hogwarts that they used to do all of the shots that pan around Hogwarts in the movies. It was the most detailed, intricate, beautiful thing I have ever seen. Obviously, if it made me cry! I think the music had a lot to do with it too. Anyways, if you are a Harry Potter nerd you must go! It will change your life.
Later that night we went out to a club/bar called Roadhouse! It was a fun night to the most perfect day! I ended up practicing what Spanish I could remember on some Spaniards, which they found quite amusing.
The freaking Great Hall.
Dumbledores Office!
Taking a ride on the Knight Bus.
Bellatrix my idol.
The real Diagon Alley!
ITS HOGWARTS!
To put how big the model was in perspective! Amazing.
Adios.
