So much art, so little time!

Friday, June 15, 2012:
We had our first dance classes at RADA! Four hours of dancing never felt so good, considering I haven't been dancing for the past month. We took a contemporary class from Sonia Rafferty from the Laban Institute of Movement and she is absolutely wonderful, challenging, and so smart. The amount of information I learned in one two hour class from this woman could take up pages in my journal. Moving on. Then we took an improv class with Jamie who will be teaching us Jazz for the remainder of the trip. We started out telling him our names and something we found interesting about London so far...in British accents. He rated mine a 7, too bad I didn't show him my Cockney accent. No doubt I would have gotten a 10...until next time.

We discovered this really awesome place for lunch called planet organic where I am certain I will end up for lunch several times throughout the remainder of the trip!

Friday night we saw a really awesome theatre/movement show by BLOOM! dance collective. It was very interesting, different, and funny. I won't go into detail but basically it involved some nudity, superheroes, and trashy humor all the while dealing with profound subjects.

Friday night also turned out to be our first club experience, expensive but rewarding. We went to a club called Cargo and all had a blast. My perception of time here is completely out of whack without a phone so we ended up not getting back until 4 in the morning! Which is "early" for the crazy London folk. Needless to say, the night was a perfect introduction to the nightlife here!

Saw another awesome show, The Suit at the Young Vic Theatre. I absolutely loved this performance. It was set in South Africa and centered around the relationship of a married couple dealing with adultery. The female lead had the most beautiful soulful voice I have ever heard. She could have sung the whole show and I would have been entertained! Afterwards we got lunch at the cafe there and talked about the shows we saw this week!

Later in the day we planned out some trips and activities we are planning to do...The Olympic Ring tour, Harry Potter Studio Tour, Bath, Jack the Ripper tour, and many more! Then I met up with Morgan finally and got some yummy Italian food that I'd been craving for the past week and finally dessert! Then a group of us headed to a local pub, The London Pub. It turned out to be my favorite pub we have been to because of the younger crowd and obnoxious drunken singing by everyone in the bar. It reminded me of a scene from a movie where everyone circles around and drunkenly sings and makes toasts!
This must be my ready to dance pose.
Out and about on a Friday night! Pre-Cargo!

The Young Vic Theatre after seeing The Suit!

Dessert at last...warm chocolate and walnut brownie with ice cream! PINK ice cream

Reunited and it feels too good!
