PINA

Had a fantastic day of all things dance! We had Pilates in the morning and then a fun bloke named Keith for Jazz. I am looking forward to taking his class again on Wednesday! Afterwards we all gathered in Shaners room for our weekly Monday meetings. He added another show to our schedule, so I believe that makes 15 shows altogether! CRAZY.

Onto the important part of my day! We all got dressed up and headed to Sadler's Wells, a theatre with 300 years of fabulous history to see Pina Bausch's Tranztheater Wuppertal perform Der Fensterputzer, which is a part of her World Cities works. While traveling and living in ten different cities across the globe Pina collaborated on ten pieces that have been chosen to be shown in London in celebration of the Olympics this summer. The piece we saw tonight was influenced by Hong Kong and featured a mountain of silk rose petals acting as the backdrop to the entire 2 hour and 50 minute piece. The work incorporated humor, theatre, absolutely gorgeous movement, extensive prop work, and projections. To say the least it was a lot to take in, but I felt like I experienced a part of history tonight and it was truly something special!

Sorry for the blabbering! ANYWAYS...afterwards we had yet to eat dinner and considering everything in London closes early we ended up shamefully chowing down on some McDonald's. But let me tell you, it was worth it.

The group prior to seeing Pina!

In front of the poster for the show! Getting too excited.

Foot pop, had to.

The mountain of rose petals. It looks like it's on fire but it is because of my camera and the lighting on the stage!
